Cemetery Preservation.
Teresa Outen Reed of the chapter-in-forming Emmala Reed Miller Chapter, UDC shares the following:
"My husband, Tom Reed, SCV and I repaired 2 headstones and placed 2 Confederate crosses with flags at the headstones Saturday. You would not believe the area before we started cleaning it up. You could barely see 3 headstones out of the 8 due to the brambles. We both are blessed that we were able to do this for our ancestors. Reed/Odom Family Cemetery-Blackville, SC in Barnwell County."

This exhibt will be running thru January 2015.

2nd (Saturday): History of the Confederate Uniform.
10:30 am -- Anderson County Museum - Max Middleton will be doing a program using photographs and uniforms as examples.
9th (Saturday): UDC Field Trip to Hopewell Plantation House.
9:00 am -- Meeting at Old Stone Church; then on to Hopewell - We have been invited to join the ladies of the Belton Chapter.
21st (Thursday): Palmetto Sharpshooters Monthly Meeting.
6:00 pm -- Woodmen of the World -
30th (Saturday): Dedication of the grave stone for Wade Childs.
10 AM -- At Westview Cemetery, Anderson - The grave dedication for Wade Childs, black Confederate, will be held at the West View Cemetery on Sayre Street in Anderson.
Private funding raised the money to provide a headstone for this veteran. More information will be posted soon, but please plan to join us!
It has taken nearly 100 years, but this veteran is finally having a headstone on his grave.
